It's 10.19pm on Sunday and I'm sitting in bed, wrapped in my warm gown, bowl of mushroom pasta next to me, trying to fight the symptoms of a cold that hit me 48 hours before my flight to Turkey. I've got to finish writing a whole workshop and write this blog, and I'm bouncing between feeling uber-excited and congested 😂 Excited - because on the day of our return to the studio, Cristina, my friend and massage therapist, will be joining us to share her gift with us.
10 minutes with Cristina
I met Cristina about 3-4 years ago, when I was running the Planet Hoop free workshops at the Deptford Lounge, in the reception area that they so kindly offered us. We chatted and she told me she was a massage therapist and that she had read a blog article I had written in 2018, titled Get a massage!. In this article, I was talking about how much I loved getting a massage, and how I thought everybody could use one. Cristina is one of those people who makes sure that her services are accessible to all, and I've always appreciated how devoted she is to her mission.
Needless to say, I immediately became her client and have sent my friends and partner to her as well. She recently fixed me with a quick and expert twist of the neck while hanging out at the pub, minutes after I had invited her to be one of my guests in the course. I love that she is always training and developing her skill, I have deep admiration for her and I can't wait for you to meet her!
Learn a little more about Cristina, in her own words
"I have dedicated the past five years to cultivating a deep understanding of the intricate workings of the human body, through my work and studies. My healing sessions, grounded in this knowledge, have evolved into a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach, which caters to each person’s individual needs.
I felt the calling to help people, by listening, caring and healing with touch and with a smile. Believing that mind and body are deeply connected and all bodies deserve a non judgmental and inclusive space, I am dedicated to supporting the journey of all who come to me. My intention, by creating and holding a safe container, is to facilitate the journey to ease physical pain, increase relaxation and initiate deep inner transformation.
My healing sessions vibrate with love and harmony, offering people the space and opportunity to step away from the world for a while, to rest and to be still. I believe that it is only by turning our attention inwards that we are able to notice our needs and understand how to help ourselves, and that self awareness is the key to change.
Through my intuition and accumulated experience, I guide people who want to incorporate massage into their lives as a way to help manage stress and anxiety, ease many forms of chronic pain and promote well being. By using a combination of massage techniques, passive joint mobilisation and stretches, my treatments are versatile and tailored to suit each individual’s needs.
Dedicated and truly loving what I do, I approach each healing session with great passion and respect, as I continue to grow and develop as a therapist, healer and human being."
Cristina will take over the last 10 minutes of our 13th of October hoop class. I am extremely grateful that she accepted my invitation and I can't wait for her to get hoopy with us!
